So I’m onto learning PHP finally. After how long of saying I’d learn it, I’m actually going to learn it. I’ve written just some basic blocks that echo, or use the switch function, or break, etc.

Just simple things like that. I want to dive in head first with PHP and try out a simple blog. I’ll learn PHP by using it hand’s on, and I’ll learn whatever I need to along the way. I may be asking Nerd to give me a few pointers for starting this project up, oh and maybe Jcink too, seeing as he has a lot of PHP knowledge.

Bleh, not too exciting this time around, so, umm…quote time:

Sometimes you wake up, go about your day and feel great. You think nothing could be better. Then as the day goes on, you spot tiny incidents that slowly make you realize that you’re missing out on so much. You realize that you can only find peace in solitude, but then you come to the conclusion that you’d be so much more content and better off being able to leave yourself to someone. You realize that you really are missing out on so much.

Then your day goes downhill.

I hate it. I hate not being able to do what I know is in my heart, and true. But the truth is, I know what would happen, so I go through every day with the exact same prcess…and I know I’ll see someone who will be bolder than me and make me feel worse about it, then I’ll keep digging a bigger hole until, well…nevermind.

I have no clue what to do anymore.

Lately I’ve been spending a whole lot of time working on my site, Anti-Joke. It’s basically a humor and parody site that everyone can relate to. I don’t try to focus on one certain subject, but leave it open for more freedom. I’ve just now started advertising it, to get it more known.

It has near perfect back-end coding, it is completely XHTML Transitional valid, CSS standard, it meets the terms of the British Disability Discrimination Act, it is fully compliant with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and it appears the exact same in every single browser, regardless of rendering engine.

There isn’t much content on it right now, as with any newly developed site, but I will constantly be adding content to it. Today alone from advertising, I’ve managed to rank in about 350 hits. To start this off, I’d like to say one thing:

Happy (early) birthday Kelly!
Words of (non)wisdom: Never give in to the urge to do anything only because any other option would lead to awkwardness or embaressment. You’ve always got to take the risk, dive in head first. No one will remember that awkward moment in 50 years, but they will rememeber your courageousness, alongside your determination and ability. Life is meant to be full of surprises and excitement.

No one can take away your ability to pursue. You have to shoot for every one of your dreams. Never let anyone say a dream is impossible - it just is hard to get to with what you’ve got now. Don’t make your whole life a big attempt at being famous, and rich. Those mean nothing in the end. You’ve got to go for what will truely make you happy, no matter what that idea may be. Don’t be afraid of what other’s will think of you. You’ll get more respect for being bold and and putting yourself out there.

And please, never doubt your abilities. You’re unique and special in your way, and you can do so much more than other people. I know I’m like the posterchild for the complete opposite of what I’m saying now, but believe me…it’s the truth. You’ve got to realize you have so much to offer, even if you can’t see it.

But yea, I went off on a tangent again. Happy birthday again, so have a great one!

School is almost over and it doesn’t feel very good. I’ll miss a lot of my friends, but I’ll see them a lot less during the summer. Exams are coming up soon too, so that’ll take up a lot of my week.

I don’t really have much to say right now, besides the fact that I have added lots of content to my site (site, not blog, site). I added a few articles, I’m writing one right now, and I cleaned up the homepage. Now every page is completely XHTML valid.

(Inspired by a conversation I had with Chris M. in the halls during fifth period.)

You remember when your grandparents used to tell you wild stories about their times as a child? At one point they would always tell you *Start stereotyping* that they somehow managed to walk to school and back everyday, uphill, for 15 miles. *End stereotyping* Mind you, they also told you that they walked uphill both ways. I’m not sure about you, but I believe this is physically impossible. Although, in highly uncommon scenario’s, it may be possible. Let’s examine some possible situation’s in which the average student back in the 40’s would have to walk to school. Please bear in mind that I was unable to create many scenes:

As you can tell, the house (blue) is on the top of a hill, the road leads down to the school (red). The only possible way to go uphill would be to walk home, which would result in you going up the road, obviously, uphill. This must not of been how they got around, apparently. Although it would be a good thing for people who don’t like to walk more than, say, one inch. I hate scaled models.

Next is this model:

This model does actually provide a plausible solution; both ways are uphill. Think about it. Either path you take can be uphill. They are both different ways to the home. Thus, the only logical conclusion is that every single grandparent lived on top of a hill. I must say that this, while certainly unlikely, must be true. C’mon, would your grandparnts ever lie to you?

Further explaination of Model 2:
Lets say you’re at school. There are two parallel paths (as shown on the diagram) that take you back home. For the sake of commonality, lets refers to these as ways (people do call them ways - example: Which “way” do you want to go? Lets go that “way”!) Both “ways” are uphill. It’s now just a matter of choice walking back home…it’s not a literal (I walked uphill both to and fro school) meaning.

Long time since I updated, I’ll give a quick overview of what I did the past several days:

Friday - Went to the bread & Honey festival
Saturday - Went to the mall with some friends. A few friends got unjustly banned from HMV, so I helped get them unbanned, which worked out well. ^_^
Sunday - Laid around my house all day. Fairly boring.

I’d go into gory detail of every day, but I don’t feel like that today.

It’s funny how the most unrelated things sometimes turn out to be more closely linked than you originally believed.I always try telling my friends that everything happens for a reason, and I’m sure they’re sick of hearing me say it. But I mean, look back on everything in your life. Chances are, it relates to something else you may not of initially thought were connected. I’m sure it’s that way for me. Nothing strikes me more than hearing someone say that they never looked at it that way before…and then they put together everything and it’s then one big, completely solved puzzle.

There are so many people who let other’s treat them worse than how they really should be treated. It’s their self-esteem, confidence, self-respect, etc. They never realize what great potential they all have. If someone doesn’t think they live up to the media’s standards of beauty, they think less of themselves. It’s not what the media’s image of beauty is. It’s not the hair, or the clothing. It’s not the plastic surgery, not the rigorous training. It’s the natural ability and charisma, the personality, what they act like, and lastly - what their own opinion is. Everyone has their own concept of beauty, no matter how different or exotic it may be to you, you’ve got to resepect it. Everyone has their own thoughts and values, which should be respected even if they disagree with your’s.

If someone doesn’t think they’re good enough for someone else, they begin to lose interest and confidence of themselves. They begin to believe that very few people will actually want to pursue something with them. They get a feeling of loneliness and slip into a stage of denial. They try to forget about everything positive that had happened in the past and put all focus on the present, which just makes them feel worse. The only person that can really get them out of that rut is themselves - which sometimes can be extremely hard.

If someone feels like they have no one to talk to, they become much more introverted. The longer they feel like they have no one to turn to, things build up. Emotions are bottled up and may be released at the wrong time - or worse, never released at all. Everyone needs that someone to confide in, because sooner or later, things will get so out of hand that loneliness will become their security blanket. They’ll get so wrapped up in trying to hide themselves from other’s that no one would then be willing to open up to them, and try to create that bond. I know I’m going out on a limb with that last comment, but it’s entirely true. There is always an extreme of a situation.

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.

I tinhk this quote speaks wonders about what I had just said, and wraps it up fairly nicely. I believe I try my best to make that quote live to the fullest of it’s potential. But it’s so true, no mater how much bad comes your way, you can turn it to something positive.

Yesterday was a blast!

Cameron, Jackie, Sam, Julie, and I all went out to Shoeless Joe’s (restaurant) for dinner. I ordered a chicken and rice dish, then they come out with a pasta 20 minutes later. I didn’t care though, it looked good. That was true, it was really good. While I was eating it though, Jackie “offered” her gravy for me to dip my pasta in. It was oddly good. O_o Then at the end of it, I was playing with a Ketchup bottle, and it put a tiny piece of ketchup on Jackie. She took the salt shaker and shook some in my hair, but missed…and the salt went in my eye. You know how they say if you pour salt on a slug, it’ll shrivel up and die? Yea, same idea with my eye. It burned like a piece of cotton soaked in jet fuel.

After another 20 minutes, I recovered. Heh. Then we all walked back to Jackie’s house to hang out. On the way there Cameron attempted jumping over a fairly tall bridge, but we all advised him not to, so now Cameron is still alive. Once we got to her house, we were instantly greeted by her dog, Mickey. Everyone just sat around and talked for basically the rest of the time.

Time Enjoyed: 5:45

Great day, seriously.

Oh yes, one more thing - I had Diet Coke spilt in my hair. It was sticky. :-/ Person who spilt the Coke - Jackie. I think (know) she hates me.

Then today was my stepmom’s mom’s birthday party. I basically was too old to play with the little kids, and too young to actually have a conversation with the adults. So most of my time was spent wandering aimlessly throughout the building. At least I got to eat a crapload of custard balls.

So now I’m sitting here, feeling good about my weekend, and not a care in the world. I’ll just wait until Monday, I’m sure something will change that outlook.

And in IF news, I changed my username from Deat to Zach! My idea was that, along with many of the others, using your real name would provide a more professional and personal feel to the board. I was all for that, plus I have no association with Deat. It has no representation of me, so it’d actually be better to not use it.

Lately, I’ve had lots encircling me. I haven’t had time to think completely, nor did I have time to clear my head of the past couple of weeks. I’ll finally be able to do so tonight. I found a few cool bands - Between The Buried And Me - Chimaira - Shadows Fall - Red Tear Memory. I’m playing guitar more and more now, even with all the time I spend on the computer. I now normally have a tab in Firefox opened to Mxtabs.net. I’m now getting into, yes, Alexisonfire. You heard correctly, Alexisonfire. The very same band I saw live last summer. The same band I critized in 8th grade. The same band that turned me off of all scream-o.

Julie brouht her acoustic to school today and nearly everyone took a turn at playing it. Even me…upside down. Damn righties. Then we went to the park and lounged around there until lunch was over, then back to the predictable school grind.

People need to learn to think things through before acting on their initial idea or concept. That’s all I’m saying.
