He’s been with me my entire life. I got him when I was just a toddler. He’s been with me throughout every hardship and endeavor in my life. Every time I would fly down to South Dakota, we would pull up in the car, and he would instantly run up to it. Even in his old age he was in excellent shape. As soon as I would open the door, he would jump onto me and sniff me, to see who I was. Then at the moment he knew who I was, his tail would wag, and he would just seem so happy. I would get out and pet him like crazy.
He had another companion named Sam, and they would play around and run through the large field in the back. This was the country, so there was tons of space. A dog’s dream. Before Sam though, there was Nikko who I also had my entire life, but sadly passed away a few years ago from complications.
Then I got news tonight…
Last night there was a fierce storm in South Dakota…insanely windy. He took shelter in an old car laying in the yard so he wouldn’t get hit by anything the wind was blowing around. The wind must of blown the door to the car shut. This was late at night. The next morning my mom goes to work and everything…she comes back and finds him. In the car. With the windows rolled up. In over 100 degree (F) weather. He passed away because he didn’t have access to water.
So now I’ve lost both dogs who had so much to do with me, and it’s terrible. I know for some of you, losing a dog may not seem too big, but when it’s been around you your whole life, you realize how human it is.
Tidbit - Scientists has found that ape’s are not our closest primate genetically. It’s actually the dog. Bite on that one for a bit.
Adios.
